May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to highlight, raise awareness and normalize Mental Health. After all we have been through collectively these last 2 years and the huge impact it has had on our Mental Health, we are ready for a SHIFT! It’s time to SHIFT our understanding of how common Mental Health Illness is, it’s time to start talking about it together more and working to realize that we need to stop stigmatizing Mental Health and treat it in the same light as our physical well-being. Yoga is a powerful practice, but many people know it just to be a form of exercise. and they don’t think about it for mental health. At SHIFT it has always been our mission to change this. Yoga is first and foremost a sacred practice for the MIND. For thousands of years teachings and practices have been shared to help us calm, quiet, center and work with our minds, so that we can touch peace within ourselves and rise above our suffering. So we are celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month in a big way here at SHIFT all month long and showing our community just how powerful the practices of yoga can be to help with our Mental Health. Every Tuesday in May, we are taking a Mid Day Breath Work Break to explore the power of Pranayama Practices for our Mental Health. Come experience first hand how you can breath yourself back into a state of balance in Mind & Spirit
