Peri...WHO?  You are not crazy, you're in perimenopause

After 35, a Woman's MindBody begins to change.  Governed by the brain, the ovaries begin to decrease the production of estrogen.  This decline sets off a chain of events inside a Woman's MindBody system effecting every aspect of WHO she is.  Estrogen is an inflammatory protecting hormone, so when it begins to dip a Woman can experience sometimes debilitating symptoms.  Since every system in the body has estrogen receptors, symptoms can be experienced in every major system in a Woman's body, beyond just her reproductive system.  And if you are anything like me, no one taught you this at all.  So know you are not alone if you suddenly wake up one day in your 40's to find everything in your BodyMind falling apart.

Peri...WHO?  I know, weird right. There is a major event that takes places in our BodyMind so major it has its own term, yet maybe no one ever uttered that word out loud to you before and it is certainly possible that you have been to doctors seeking relief from your suffering like I did and no one in the medical profession ever explained it to you either.

Perimenopause is the term used to describe the period in a Woman's life when her body is slowly loosing estrogen resulting in the end of menstruation.  This phase can last anywhere from 35-55 for Women.

Menopause is defined as a one day event.  The average age in the US is 52.  A Woman's menopause is confirmed after 12 months in a row of a missed menstrual cycle.  After this one day confirmation of menopause a Woman is then in her post menopause era which continues until the day of her death.

My name is Jessie Kates and I am knee deep in perimenopause, running a business and trying to survive raising a teenage daughter and I see you!

I went through the most intense chapter of my life the year I turned 42.  I titled it "the year I fell apart."  It turned out to be the start of perimenopause, something I had never heard of before.  That lead me on an eye opening and simply amazing learning journey down the winding road of menopause eduction.  This journey has turned  into the biggest passion of my life.  Now a Certified Menopause Coaching Specialist, I am creating a space for Woman to journey together in community and finally have access to the knowledge they deserve, the tools they need and the support of a lifetime to make this the best chapter yet.

I've been to hell and back in my perimenopause journey.  I had to go to the bottom of a very dark and hopeless place and come out on the other side to see it all clearly.  What I thought was the end of my life became my most inspired and empowered chapter yet.  The more I researched menopause the more I learned about the science behind this powerful SHIFT in a Woman's Brain and Body.  The more science I learned and the more knowledge I gained about this SHIFT the more I understood it all.  Walking this path personally no longer in the dark and armed with knowledge has allowed me to make adjustments in my life that have drastically reduced my suffering and given me my life back.  There is nothing I want more than to give that to other Women in my orbit.  So I am boldly creating a safe, connected and empowered space for Women to navigate this big SHIFT together.  My Menopause Specialist Coaching Education allows me to provide evidence based strategies and support for Women over 40 to manage their symptoms, feel better, sleep better and discover just how amazing this chapter of life can be!

There are 5 main pillars of support that I focus on in Menopause Coaching.  Our MidLife MeetsUps are dedicated to taking care of the Social pillar for Women 35 and over.  We simply can't do this alone and while a Coach can be pivotal in our mastery of midlife, there is nothing more fulfilling than having a social circle of folks who can relate to what you are going through, who share in your struggles without judgement and celebrate your joys without competition or jealousy. Our MidLife MeetUps are the social gatherings you have dreamed off.

Midlife Fitness Classes 

Of all the main pillars of Menopause Coaching there is none more powerful to safeguard a Woman's health and longevity and help her manage her menopausal symptoms than strength training.  As our estrogen moves out, joint and muscle pain, inflammation, decreased bone density and lean muscle loss move in.  The research shows that regular movement is our best strategy to mitigate the risks in our bodies as estrogen declines.  For years SHIFT has been a community sharing yoga in groups.  We will be adding menopause specific strength training classes to our schedule so Women over 40 can support their bone and muscle health so they can feel the best in their bodies as they enter their menopause era.
